Knock and Rock goes like this - bands go around knocking on random people’s doors and ask if they can play two songs in their living room, then split when the gig is up. Kinda cool if you ask me, and if you didn’t ask me, then fuck you, I don’t care what you think.
This Knock and Rock is from gothic-folk singer, Lindsay Fuller.
Man I love Japan. This is some of the best, funkiest jazz I’ve heard in a long time, and it’s being played right on the streets of Tokyo, of all places! Fri. Ckin’. Cool.
Ok, so this is kind of a well-known clip, but it’s a good story so I’m going to post it anyway…
Joshua Bell, a world famous concert violin virtuoso, decided to stage a little experiment with his friends at the Washington Post, playing a free 45 minute, anonymous, concert in a Washington DC subway station, onĀ a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.
In the 45 minutes he played, over a thousandĀ people passed by Bell, yet only seven stopped to listen him to play, and only 23 bothered to actually donate some money, despite the fact a ticket to see him in concert would usually cost over $100.
So next time you hear or see a busker, take the time to stop and appreciate what’s in front of you, because you may actually be seeing one of the world’s best musicians and you’d never even know it unless you stop.
You can read the full story here.
This kid has by far the most elaborate style of trumpet playing that I’ve yet seen. He almost does more tap dancing than actual playing. Cool cat.
One man bands tend to be like dad jokes: they’re either Totally Awesome or incredibly awkward… Fortunately, this one man band from Croatia falls in the Totally Awesome category.
Here’s a little gem for ya’ll. Bruce Springsteen giving an impromptu performance on the streets of Copenhagen in 1988. Also, how good at singing are the people in the crowd!? Like a fucking choir they are.
It really is surprising how many buskers choose to haul a piano around the streets with them. Sounds pretty great though!
Sweet Dixieland jazz from the heart of Dixieland jazz, New Orleans.
Seeing this guy blow flames out of his tuba just doesn’t make any sense at all.
“The best drummer in Norway!!!1!!!”
Hey now! Can this guy jam out some blistering gypsy fire or what!?
Dude playing some prreeeeeettttyyyyy sweet bass on the street.
(Don’t mind the Spanish at the start. Those crazy Spaniards and their words!)
Nice little video about the ‘hidden’ side of busking in London.
Oh wow, this guy has swing! It’s not everyday you see a guy playing sweet jazz double bass in a subway. And what a great voice too!
